YES, to jewelry…NO, to cable TV!

I’ve decided to get rid of my cable TV…well, not completely. I’ll still have the local channels (I can’t miss out on the new Heroes, The Office and Life episodes…or Florida’s latest tropical storm forecast), but no more Jon & Kate Plus 8, Meerkat Manor, What Not To Wear, or any of the many home makeover shows that suck up all of my extra time. Lately I’ve felt the motivation to start taking steps to take my jewelry business from being mostly a hobby to a thriving and lucrative enterprise, so I need to get rid of (or at least “reduce”) TV as a distraction.

I’ll be using this blog to premiere my latest work and to keep everyone in the loop with the latest MoonFly Studio news, and I’ll be posting info about jewelry care, the types of materials I use, jewelry trends, and possibly a few random thoughts hear and there.

Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be registering to collect sales tax in Florida (yipee) and working on my new logo. I need to meet with an accountant to make sure I’ve got my books set up the right way, but I’ve been procrastinating on that, so I think I’ll put that in my 30-day plan. Eventually I’ll have a working e-commerce site, but to begin with, I’m going to be setting up a shop on Etsy.com which is a site filled with lots of fabulous goodies made by independent artists, like myself. That’s also part of my 30-day plan.

Yikes! Putting some of this stuff in writing puts the pressure on me to take action. Stay tuned as I go cold-turkey from the DVR and start making time for what’s important…
