Well, tax time has come and gone, and so has my tax refund…But I didn’t waste it on bills or savings this year. Instead I had loads of fun investing it in a soldering torch and various accessories, a few new tools and some fabulous beads, including these Labradorite briolettes which I wire-wrapped in sterling silver and added to a simple silver chain.
I just love, love, love the flash of color that you get from the Labradorite at different angles! The pictures just don’t do it justice.
I still have to get the torch gased up before I can put it to work, but keep checking back for updates!
I finally opened my shop on Etsy! OK, so I only have one item listed so far, but I’m super excited and have to celebrate the baby-steps after so much talk about things being “in the works”.
The web address is www.etsy.com/shop/moonflystudio, or you can just click the Shop link here on my blog. I’ll be adding a link to my shop on my Facebook account too.
If you’re not familiar with Etsy, it’s an online marketplace where you can buy and sell all things handmade. It’s extremely easy to start browsing and not even realize that it’s 2 hours later when you look up because there’s so much cool stuff there. Support handmade!
I had a jewelry party at my house yesterday. I got to spend some leisurely time with friends, and I slightly exceded my sales goals, so it was a great success!
This was my first open house in at least two years, so I was nervous about getting my house in order and about having enough inventory. I set a date for the event knowing that I wasn’t quite ready for it, but I wanted to have the party before the holidays, and there’s nothing like a hard deadline to get me motivated.
I was very pleased with the response to my latest creations and plan to get right back to work in the studio. I’m a little behind schedule getting my new logo created and in getting things posted to my Etsy shop, but now that the party is behind me, I’ll be focusing on those two next steps.
Thanks again to everyone who stopped by yesterday, and congratulations to Patsi Jones who was the winner in the necklace prize drawing! Sorry to “Bob” from “Funky Town, USA” whose entry was disqualified for incomplete information.
